About

Vintage Trixie

Every great collection starts with a story, and ours began in 2011 when we opened an Etsy shop to find new homes for a lifetime of family treasures. What started as a way to share cherished items quickly became a passion for hunting down unique vintage finds. Along the way, we discovered that the unusual, quirky, and unexpected pieces often captured the most attention, inspiring us to embrace our love of all things wonderfully odd.

As our collection continued to grow, we soon outgrew our online shop. In 2016, we opened our brick-and-mortar location in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake, Virginia, creating a space where visitors could explore an ever-changing collection of antiques, curiosities, collectibles, and vintage treasures. Guided by our belief in "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...and Repurpose," we incorporated reclaimed materials throughout the shop, including pallet wood walls and custom shelving built from salvaged materials, giving new life to old resources.

Vintage Trixie reflects the passions and personalities of its founders. John's love of vehicles can be seen throughout our collection of automotive memorabilia, model cars, and unique finds, as well as in our beloved 1988 hearse, Hellin Back, which still turns heads wherever it goes. Science and nature also play an important role in our shop, with displays featuring rocks, minerals, fossils, skulls, and other natural wonders. These collections are inspired by a lifelong fascination with biology and years of experience working in education, zoology, and animal care.

In 2023, we took an exciting step forward by expanding into the neighboring building and transforming the space into an even bigger destination for creativity and community. The expansion introduced the Creepisan Gallery, featuring talented artists and vendors, and The Odditorium, a unique venue for workshops, classes, events, and celebrations. Built with creativity, hard work, and plenty of positive energy, these spaces allow us to share our love of vintage treasures, oddities, art, and learning with a growing community.

At Vintage Trixie, we believe that every item has a story to tell. Whether it's an antique photograph, a piece of vintage jewelry, a fascinating curiosity, or a handcrafted work of art, we love preserving the history and character behind each piece. More importantly, we're dedicated to creating a welcoming, inclusive space where people can gather, connect, and celebrate what makes them unique. We keep our "weird light" shining bright and invite you to stop by, explore, and become part of the Vintage Trixie story.
